Alex had gotten up before all of his cabin mates, and watching them all sleep got quite boring, so he decided to take a stroll on the beach. The Sun was just rising, there was a cool breeze that lightly tousled Alex's hair. He walked along along, taking in the fresh morning air, kicking rocks as he went. As he walked he thought about The Oracle's prophecy and also, just what was stirring in the Depths of Tartarus. Everyone at camp had been scouring ancient texts for anything, even just a hint, of who the "he" in The Oracle's prophecy might be, but no one had a clue.
This made Alex feel slightly discouraged. I mean, What if they never actually did find out and the world ends right then and there. Alex stopped walking and sat down, watching the waves. There was no point in worrying about the end of the world now. Right now Alex had to worry about training so that when this thing finally did rise he would be ready. Alex yawned, stretching his arms out in front of him. He could already tell it was going to be a long day.

Ariel sat with her toes in the water, it was still warm from the sweltering july day before. That's the way she liked it. Ariel was named after none other than, the little mermaid, ariel. She hated her name, but it suited her. She for some reason always had a keen attraction to the water. Always winning awards and medals for swimming. I t calmed her. Some off days she would spend all her time in the water, in the pool in her backyard. She could always hold her breath much longer then everyone. She finally found out why that made sense, and no one to talk about it with. Come on, poseidon? Her?
She saw a boy walk up to the beach. She moved behind a large rock out of his site. She didn't want to be in his way, and it was always awkward not to know the only other person with you when you want be alone. But then again, it would be nice to have at least one friend to worry about the end of the world with. She picked up a small bit of water and involuntarily played with it in her hand for a while.
She turned around to see if the boy was still there, which he was. She took in a deep breath and approached him.
"up early aren't we?" she began.

Alex turned to see a blonde girl. She was pretty attractive, with her blonde hair and brown eyes. Alex shrugged, "Couldn't sleep. Plus, it's kind of nice to be up before everyone else." Alex continued to look out onto the water. He'd seen the girl around camp a few times, but he'd never introduced himself. she was always surrounded by other boys, which told Alex that she was not they type of girl to be messed with.
"So what are you doing up this early?" Alex asked trying to be polite and keep up the conversation.

"Drawn to the water." She rolled her eyes, "Daughter of Poseidon?" She casually pointed to herself. "I'm surprised no on else is here from my cabin. But I like being alone more. The people in my cabin are all cocky, all high and mighty, because they're the children of some oh so Holy Trinity. I really couldn't care less." She took a spot in the sand next to the boy.
Ariel was surprised at herself, she never opened up to anyone easily oe even at all. And there she went rambling on.

Alexander nodded "I see." He said chuckling a bit at the girl's rambling. She sat down beside him and Alex became all to aware of just how close she was sitting. He grinned a little bite, but quickly hid it, realizing how dorky and goofy it would look.
"I'm Alex By the way, son of Hermes." He said holding out his hand for a shake, the way you were supposed to do it. Alex knew that hardly anyone his age did that anymore, but hey, he was a kid with manners.

"Ariel." She said smiling back at him. It was strange to her, she wasn't the open book type and yet, here she was. She slowly brought the tide up to where she was sitting, she felt more confident by the water.
"So what can you, like, fly or are you just a mailman?" She jokingly said, "I've neverly looked into anyone else powers but my own."

Alex chuckled " Well aren't you funny." Alex joked back. He wasn't sure if he wanted to tell her what he could do, most people were turned off when they found out he liked to steal things. For some girls it worked, because the dug the whole "Bad Boy" thing. But it the end it always ended badly, for everything that went missing people always confronted Alex first, even when he swore he didnt do it. Alex was almost always honest with people, especially his closest friends. He couldn't even tell you how many friendships he'd lost because, even though he was telling the truth, people still didn't believe him. It was almost easier to lie.
Alex decided to tell her. After all, he had just met her, he supposed it wouldn't matter that much if she never wanted to associate herself with him again. He decided to make it sound as good as could "I have an uncanny ability to...find things," He said choosing his words carefully, "Usually things that are...protected,well."

"So, what, you're a criminal or something?" She asked seriously, but she smiled right after, indicating that she was only kidding. "Okay, so you steal stuff, I could tell you worse." She said givng him a challenging look. She couldn't really think of anything extreme that she had done.
"I, uh, flooded my ex-boyfriend's house once...or twice." She bit her lip, "On accident of course." She thought some more, "I had just broken up with my other ex one day, and as soon as I got home, there was a flash flood warning siren going off."
Come to think of it, all of her powers reacted most strongly with boys she dated.
She looked down, "Wow." She whispered, mainly to herself.
"But we all have our stories to tell." She finally said to the boy.
She rested her elbow in the sand and placed her head on top.
She looked at his eyes. They were an intense blue. Her ind finally caught up to her eyes and she looked away blushing.
She laughed silently to herself at her petty mistake.
